Parque del Capricho was built by the Duchess of Osuna between 1787 and 1839 as a place of recreation. During the Civil War, the bunker was part of the Central Republican Army Headquarters, whose code name was Jaca Position. Currently, it is in a very good state of preservation and is one of the most important military constructions in all of Europe.
In this 2000 meter space square located 15 meters underground whose origin dates back to 1937. It was then that the Madrid Defense Board that the republican high command be installed in a safer place than the basements of the Ministry of Finance.
At Capricho Park bunker A series of works were carried out: pavilions to house the troops, a shelter against bombing… Some of these constructions have already disappeared. The Madrid City Council opened this space to the public for the first time in 2016.
